11.5. Check of thickness of a brake disk

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Mark with an arrow the direction of rotation of a wheel. Turn off bolts of fastening of wheels. Lift and install the car on supports.
  1. Measure thickness of a brake disk surely in the thinnest place (an arrow on an accompanying illustration). On HUNDRED for this purpose there is a special caliper or a micrometric bracket since wear of a disk has an edge. It is possible to measure thickness of a disk by means of a usual caliper. In this case on each party of a brake disk it is necessary to put laying of a certain thickness (for example, a small coin). In this case it is necessary to subtract thickness of two coins from the received result of measurement.

It is necessary to perform measurement in several points of a brake disk.

  1. The sizes of a brake disk are specified in Specifications.
  1. If the limit of wear of a disk is reached, it is necessary to replace surely both disks of one axis.
  1. In the presence of big cracks or flutes, more than 0.5 mm in depth the brake disk needs to be replaced.
  1. Observing the direction of rotation, establish a wheel and fix it. Lower the car on wheels and only after that tighten bolts of fastening of a wheel cross-wise the moment of 120 Nanometers.
