2.7. Automatic Transmission (AT)
The car is completed with 5-staged automatic transmission with electronic control. Switching to the raised and lowered steps is carried out automatically.For the reasons of fuel consumption and environmental protection on some modifications transmission is arranged so that the maximum speed of the car is reached only in situation "S".
The transmission is completed also with the tiptronic system. This system gives to the driver, at desire, a possibility of manual switching.

The engine can be started only when finding the lever of the selector in situation "P" or "N", see Features of operation and auxiliary systems.
At the parking out of the blue it is enough to install the selector lever in situation "P". At a slope of the road tighten at first against the stop the emergency brake and only then transfer the selector lever to situation "P". Thanks to it load of the mechanism of blocking decreases and moving of the lever of the selector from situation "P" is facilitated.

The allocated indication of actual position of the lever of the selector is brought to the display of the control panel.
Р - parking blocking
In this situation driving wheels are blocked mechanically. This situation should be included only on the motionless car.
For installation of the lever of the selector in situation "P" and its conclusion from this situation press the blocking button (on the selector lever) and, at the same time, a brake pedal.
R - transfer of a backing
At installation of the lever of the selector this situation joins transfer of a backing.
Include transfer of a backing only at the motionless car and during the operation of the engine idling.
For installation of the lever of the selector in situation "K" press the button of blocking and at the same time a brake pedal. At the included ignition and finding of the lever of the selector in situation "R" backing headlights burn.
N - neutral situation (provision of idling)
This situation is the provision of idling.
D - a basic position at advance
In this situation switching to the raised and lowered steps of the forward course is carried out automatically, depending on loading of the engine, speed and the dynamic program of switching (DPS).
From situation "R" in situation "D" at a speed less than 5 km/h or the motionless car it is necessary for the translation of the lever of the selector press a brake pedal.
Under certain circumstances, (for example, at the movement in mountains or with the trailer) it is more preferable to switch temporarily to the manual program of switching see below.
S - sports situation
Install the selector lever in situation "S" at the movement in the sports mode. Later switching to the raised steps allows to use engine capacity reserves completely.

Blocking of the lever of the selector prevents involuntary inclusion of range of the movement and by that the spontaneous movement of the car from the place.

Automatic blocking of the lever of the selector
At the included ignition the lever of the selector is blocked in situation "P" and "N". For moving it from these provisions press a brake pedal. As a reminder to the driver when finding the lever of the selector the following indication is published in provisions "P" and "N" on the display:

The lever of the selector is blocked only on the motionless car, and also at a speed up to 5 km/h. At a speed approximately from 5 km/h and there is an automatic cancellation of blocking of the lever of the selector which is in situation "N" above.
At bystry (without pauses) the translation of the lever of the selector through situation "N" (for example, from situation "R" in situation "D") the lever of the selector is not blocked. It gives, for example, the chance of the movement "vraskachku" of the got stuck car. If the selector lever at the released pedal of a brake is more than 1 second in situation "N", then it is blocked.
Blocking button
The button of blocking of the lever of the selector interferes with involuntary transfer of the lever of the selector to some provisions. When pressing this button the lever of the selector is deblocked.
Blocking of a key in the ignition lock
After switching off of ignition the key can be taken from the lock only when finding the lever of the selector in situation "P" (parking blocking).
After extraction of a key from the lock the lever is blocked in situation "P".
Kick-down device
The Kick-down device allows to realize the maximum acceleration.
By sharp pressing of a pedal of an accelerator with transition of a point of resistance automatic equipment switches, depending on turns and speed, to a low gear. Switching to the following overgear happens right after achievement of the maximum turns of the engine corresponding to this transfer.
Dynamic program of switching (DPS)
Management of automatic transmission is carried out by electronics.
Management of automatic transmission is carried out by electronics. Switching to the raised and low gears is carried out according to the programs of the movement which are stored in memory.
At a reserved manner of driving automatic equipment chooses the economic program of switching.
At a temperamental manner of driving with sharp dispersals and frequent differences of speed, or after sharp pressing a pedal of an accelerator (Kick-down) automatic equipment works with use of the maximum speed in the range of sports programs. Late transition to overgears allows to realize an engine capacity stock completely. Switching to low gears is carried out at higher turns of the engine.
The choice of the optimum program of the movement on specific conditions represents continuous process. However irrespective of it it is possible to switch to more sports program, having sharply pressed an accelerator pedal. At the same time the transmission switches to the lowered step corresponding to the actual speed of the movement, providing a possibility of dynamic dispersal (for example, when overtaking) without the need for sharp pressing against the stop to an accelerator pedal. After the return switching to the raised step and at the corresponding mode of driving work on the initial program is restored.
The program of the movement in mountains operates the choice of transfers on rises and descents. Thanks to it it is not required to switch at the movement to rise. Pressing of a pedal of a brake at the movement under a bias carries out switching to the lowered step. Thereof it is possible to brake the engine, without resorting to manual switching.
Tiptronic mode
The Tiptronic system gives to the driver the chance of also manual gear shifting.

Switching to the manual mode
Wring out the selector lever from situation "D" to the right. At the included manual mode on the display indication 5 4 3 2 1 with allocation of the transfer included at the moment appears.
Switching to overgears
- When translating the lever of the selector forward (in situation Tiptronic) there is a switching to overgears.
Switching to low gears
- When translating the lever of the selector back (in situation Tiptronic) there is a switching to low gears.
It is possible to switch to the manual mode both during the movement, and during the parking.
At dispersal at 1, 2, 3 and 4 steps the box will automatically switch to the following raised step of achievement of the maximum turns of the engine shortly.
When switching from an overgear to lowered automatic switching is possible only when there is impossible excess of the engine turns defined for these conditions.
During the operation of the Kick-down device transmission switches to the watching lowered step depending on speed and turns of the engine
Emergency program
In case of malfunction of system automatic equipment switches to the emergency program.
At malfunction of system automatic equipment switches to the emergency program. About it fire or extinction of all segments of the display panel signals at once.
At the same time the lever of the selector can be transferred to all provisions. However in provisions "D" and "S" the 4th step will join.
Perhaps also inclusion of transfer of a backing of "R". However electronic blocking of transfer of a backing during the work in emergency operation is turned off.
In emergency operation the manual program of switching (Tiptronic) is disconnected.

Keys of switching of steps are in an operating mode when the lever of the selector is installed in situation "D", "S" or in the provision of the manual program of switching (Tiptronic). At the included manual program of switching of a key on a steering wheel are lit.
Certainly, at the same time also manual switching of steps the selector lever on the central console is possible.
Klinotsepna Multitronic® variator
Introduction
Models it is completed with stepless transmission with electronic control (klinotsepny Multitronic® variator). Unlike usual automatic transmission the transfer number changes not step gear shifting, and is continuous. It promotes along with another to optimization of comfort of traction effort and provides optimum fuel consumption.
The choice of the corresponding transfer relation of transmission (switching to the increased and lowered ranges of the movement) is carried out completely automatically, agrees to the programs of the movement which are stored in memory, see below, "The dynamic program of regulation (DRP)".
The transmission is completed also with the Tiptronic system. This system gives to the driver, at desire, a possibility of manual switching of ranges, see below.
Maintenance instructions
On the car with Multitronic transmission communication of the engine with driving wheels, unlike usual automatic transmission, is carried out through multidisk coupling, but not via the torque converter. As a result the car is a little less subject to the spontaneous movement at short-term stops with idling the engine and the selector lever installed in situation "D", "S" or "R". It is necessary to remember it first of all on biases/rises if you went by the car with usual automatic transmission with the converter of torque earlier and are not familiar with this feature of a variator yet see. However, irrespective of it, it is possible to switch to more sports program, having sharply pressed an accelerator pedal. At the same time lower transfer relation of the transmission corresponding to the actual speed of the movement joins, providing a possibility of dynamic dispersal (for example, when overtaking) without the need for sharp pressing against the stop to an accelerator pedal. At the subsequent switching to the increased range and the corresponding mode of driving work on the initial program is restored.
At movement along mountain roads the transfer relation is continuously brought into accord with the characteristic of rise. Transmission automatically is switched by pressing of a pedal of a brake at the movement under a bias to the lowered range. Thereof efficiency of braking by the engine increases.
If at movement along mountain roads it is included темпостат *, then transmission automatically chooses lower transfer relation for keeping of the set speed. It leads, however, to increase in turns of the engine.
Tiptronic mode
The manual program of switching (Tiptronic) gives to the driver the chance of manual inclusion of six programmed transfer relations (ranges of the movement).

Switching to the increased ranges
When translating the lever of the selector forward (in situation tiptronic) there is a switching to the increased ranges (+).
Switching to the lowered ranges
When translating the lever of the selector back (in situation Tiptronic) there is a switching to the lowered ranges (-).
The manual program of switching gives the chance of manual inclusion of six programmed transfer relations (ranges of the movement). It is possible to switch to the manual mode both during the parking, and during the movement from situation "D".
At dispersal in the ranges of 1, 2, 3, 4 and the 5th transmission will automatically switch to the following increased range shortly before achievement of the maximum turns of the engine.
When switching from the increased range on lowered, automatic equipment will switch only after there is impossible a peddling increase in turns of the engine.
When falling speed of the movement (for example, when braking) and the minimum frequency of rotation of a shaft of the engine transmission will automatically switch to the following lowered range.
Switching to the lowered ranges at the movement under a bias increases efficiency of braking by the engine.
During the operation of the Kick-down device transmission switches to the following lowered range depending on speed and turns of the engine.
Emergency program
In case of malfunction of system automatic equipment switches to the emergency program.
At malfunction of system automatic equipment switches to the emergency program. About it fire of all segments on the display panel signals at once.
Return indication
At a negative luminescence of indication it is possible to continue the movement. However it is necessary to address on HUNDRED for check Multitronic® systems.
The blinking indication
The blinking indication testifies to serious malfunction of system. In this case carefully move on HUNDRED for elimination malfunctions.
